not valid win32 application

"Not a valid win32 application?

Downloaded the 64bit ISO, burned it to DVD at 4X, have a completely capable system (P4 3.6, 2 gig ram, etc, etc) But no matter how I try, I can't even get to the 1st step.... Suggestions?
I also created a seperate partition (60 gigs in size)
Bad .ISO maybe? or am I overlooking something simple? I re-burned the DVD twice at different speeds...still getting the "not a valid win32 application" error :(

If you launched setup from within Windows XP x86, you will get this error, Windows Vista x64 requires that you either boot from the DVD or launch setup from within Windows XP x64. -- -- Andre Windows Connected | http://www.windowsconnected.com Extended64 | http://www.extended64.com Blog | http://www.extended64.com/blogs/andre http://spaces.msn.com/members/adacosta

I get this message too, but i guess this is normal, becuase you try to run 64 bit app in 32bit win xp environment. the qustion is how to make multiboot system if i have win32 xp installed? i read that if i want correct and working multiboot, i have to install vista in xp not booting from dvd, and trying to boot from dvd, vista setup doesn't see my sata raid drive on epox m/b... can anyone help?
what's the difference between 32 an 64 bit vistas? maybe i can simply install 32 bit and enjoy as i did with xp? anyway 64 bit xp didn't improve anything over 32 bit version.... just PITA due to driver mess...

Ok, I tried booting from the DVD, but it doesn't work...it says "no boot device found, press F1 to try again"...
With that said, do I need to format the drive first...if so, how? since the boot sequence doesn't recognize the DVD as bootable media?

If you have XP installed on that computer, boot into it and format the Vista partition you created. -- -- Andre Windows Connected | http://www.windowsconnected.com Extended64 | http://www.extended64.com Blog | http://www.extended64.com/blogs/andre http://spaces.msn.com/members/adacosta

Just tried installing vista 64, but cannot do it via XP pro or via boot-up. below is what I have tried so far:
1)
burned the .ISO at 4x & 8X, same error with both 2) created a partition (60 gigs in size) 3) tried running setup via the command prompt 4) Tried booting off of the DVD
I have a P4 3.6Ghz, 2 gigs ram, etc, etc.
Suggestions? bad .iso download? or should I just format the drive and start from scratch?

ok this is making me a bit upset.
I downloaded the beta 2 ISO, and used DAMEON tools to emulate the CD/DVD drive,so i could play the ISO
i click the ISO and it says "______ is not a valid win32 application"
then i opened up the ISO, and found the setup.exe file and clicked it and it said "setup.exe is not a valid win32 application"
can someone tell me what's going on, PLEASE?

did you download the x64 ISO by mistake? you can't upgrade from 32 bit XP to 64 Bit Vista. if you burn it to DVD, you might be able to boot from it and do a fresh install.
